ALGEBRA II
Topics include, but are not limited to:
Absolute Value Functions Polynomial Functions
Quadratic Functions Rational Functions
Inverse Functions Composition of Functions
Systems of Equations Variations
Class time will consist of problem solving, note taking, discussions, and activities.
Prerequisite: Students must have completed Algebra 1, and be competent in the following Algebra 1 skills:
How to graph a line in the form y = mx + b or Ax + By = C
How to solve equations such as 5x + 4 = 2x + 21
Work requirements outside of class will include:
Assessments, practice problems, and video lessons with Khan Academy
Homework problems from textbook
One project per semester
Student Grade will be determined by the following, per semester:
13 tests, administered at home (teacher will send directions to parents)
A final exam
Quizzes through Khan Academy
A project
Class participation
Homework completion
Zoom meetings

A 30minute online meeting using Zoom will be held most weeks.

This will be Monday mornings, either 7:007:30am or 7:308:00am, to be determined.

The purpose of this online meeting will be to address questions from the homework due that week.

This enables us to spend class time moving forward rather than discussing the homework assigned the previous week.
REQUIRED TEXT and SUPPLIES
Supplies provided by the Student:

A good attitude

3 ring binder or spiral notebook with folder

Sharp pencils

Calculator

A graphing calculator is recommended but not required for some assignments in semester 2.

A simple scientific calculator (or calculator app) is all that is required.
