GRAMMAR & COMPOSITION

Grammar & Composition I is one semester class covering basic grammar and beginning composition  and is equivalent to a high school English class.  

 

  • This course is set up into two sections. The first section will focus on grammatical foundations. We will cover parts of speech, sentence structures, sentence diagramming, punctuation, clauses and phrases. This section will include regular quizzes and will be concluded with a midterm exam. The second section will be comprised of paragraph and short essay writing. There will be a short (3-5 page) essay, several paragraph exercises and a Final Exam

  • Class will be comprised of lecture and in class exercises. Throughout the course will also be a variety of reading assignments that will be provided or readily accessible online

 

  • There are no prerequisites to take this course, other than the student being capable of high school level course work.

​

  • This course is worth 1/2 credit of high school English per semester. Parents are responsible for managing the transcript for their student.  The teacher will communicate the end-of-course grade within 2 weeks of the final class date.
