OLD TESTAMENT SURVEY II:

Establishment & Re-establishment of Israel

This course surveys the history of God's redemptive work from creation until the crossing of the Jordan River, and the end of the Babylonian captivity.  This class will be taught from relevant books of the Bible.  Students will receive a broad perspective of God's plan from a theologically conservative framework.

This is the third class in a four-class series; students can enter the series at any time.

Year 2, Fall:        Old Testament Survey II: Establishment & Re-establishment of Israel

Year 2, Spring:   New Testament Survey II: The Epistles

Year 1, Fall:        The History of Israel

Year 1, Spring:   New Testament Survey I: Gospels and Acts

  • Class time will consist of brief quizzes, short lectures, and questions.

  • Work requirements outside of class include weekly reading of assigned Biblical books and relevant sections of How to Read the Bible for all Its Worth

  • The content of this 4-course series is equivalent to what would be found in college-level OT Survey and NT Survey.   It is presented at a slower pace, over four semesters instead of the college pace of two semesters.

  • This class is for any student who believes that the Bible is the Word of God and who is capable of high-school level work.    The class will not be a place for intense doctrinal debate.   How to Read the Bible for All Its Worth is co-authored by a Baptist and an Anglican, and is a popular text used by many colleges teaching students who attend many different denominations.

  • A student successfully completing this class will earn 1/2 credit of high school religion per semester.

“So, your teenager wants to learn about the Old Testament?  Well, you have come to the right person with Tim Meredith!   Tim is an excellent teacher.  My husband and I have had the pleasure and opportunity to have Tim as our Sunday school teacher for over 6 years.  Tim’s lessons are very informative, yet he makes class members think and ask questions.  His knowledge of the Bible is outstanding, and his teachings make us want to further explore the Bible.

We are a diverse group with differing opinions, and Tim brings it all together with his teaching and his responses to our questions.  I would highly recommend you enroll your teenager in the Old Testament Survey class taught by Tim Meredith.”                                                                          —Karen Repass
