High School Courses for Home-Educating Families
BIOLOGY
Biology is a two semester class and is equivalent to a high school biology course.

Fall Semester - Topics include the study of microorganisms, including bacteria, viruses, protists, and fungi. Students will learn basics about the cell and genetics.

Spring Semester - Topics include cell structures and function, plants, invertebrates, and vertebrates.

New students CAN join this class midyear, for just the spring semester.

Class time will consist of lectures, discussions, note-taking, activities, labs, and lab-reporting.

Work requirements outside of class include reading assignments, answering questions, and more.

There are no prerequisites, but students must be prepared for high-school level work.

This course is worth 1/2 credit of high school lab science per semester. Parents are responsible for managing the transcript for their student. The teacher will communicate the end-of-course grade within 2 weeks of the final class date.

Dr. Harkleroad is generously donating all the lab supplies for this course.

Texts will be provided by Bristol Academy, on loan to each student for the duration of the class.
